In a small village nestled between green hills, lived a pious young man named Bilal. He worked hard each day in the fields, earning just enough to support his aging parents. One day, while walking home after buying some wheat, Bilal noticed a shiny gold dinar lying on the path.
He picked it up, looked around, and saw no one nearby. It would have been easy to keep it—after all, no one saw him. But Bilal remembered the words of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:
“Return the trust to the one who entrusted you, and do not betray the one who betrays you.”

Determined to find the owner, Bilal went to the village masjid and made an announcement: “Whoever has lost a gold dinar, come to the masjid and describe it.”
Days passed, and no one claimed it. Still, Bilal refused to spend it. A month later, an old man came to the masjid looking distressed. “I lost a gold dinar weeks ago,” he said. “It had a small scratch on one side and a dent on the edge.”
Bilal smiled and took the coin from a cloth in his pocket. “Describe it again,” he asked gently. When the man finished, Bilal handed it to him. “This is yours. I found it.”
The man was overwhelmed. “May Allah bless you, my son. I was saving this for my daughter’s marriage.”
That evening, Bilal returned home peacefully. Though he was still poor in wealth, he felt rich in heart. That night, he made du‘a, thanking Allah for guiding him to do what was right.
The next day, the old man returned with a gift: half his farmland. “You’ve proven more honest than many rich men. I want this land in the hands of someone trustworthy.”
Moral:
Honesty is not measured by how much we have, but by how much we value what is right in the sight of Allah.
